MORDRED :

…Are those heights?

[ Markings : Brunor, 17. Dinadan, 13. ]

MORDRED :

That’s terrifying.

[ caption : mischievous little creature >:3 ]

Maybe I’ve got room to grow too?

So this is what a family home looks like…

BRUNOR :

Din, it’s my doublet.

DINADAN :

What does it matter to you? You’re wearing Dad’s old mail.

When are you gonna take it off?

BRUNOR :

When justice is done.

I swore an oath.

DINADAN :

Stop it, that’s so morbid!

And take it off, it stinks!

BRUNOR :

No.

DINADAN :

I’ll give you your doublet back if you take the mail off.

BRUNOR :

You can keep it.

MORDRED :

( A few days have passed

since we ran into Lionel of Gaunes, back from the dead.

In the meantime, Dinadan and Brunor have managed to improve the atmosphere somewhat. )

DINADAN :

I feel like I’m looking at Dad every time I see you,

and that’s not a compliment.

MORDRED :

( There’s some lingering melancholy, which is understandable, but…

it seems they’re finally facing it together. )

BRUNOR :

Idiot.

MORDRED :

( I think their old dynamic is returning. They seem so close, relaxed, and at ease around each other…

I should be happy for them,

but… )

BRUNOR :

Hey, Momo!

Come grab a bite before we go.

…What’s with the face?

DINADAN :

He doesn’t like it when you call him “Momo”.

MORDRED :

You’ve got a knack for coming up with embarrassing nicknames…

DINADAN :

Got it from our father, I think.

He named our horses, among other things!

[ Dinadan’s new horse : Clakos.

Brunor’s horse : Bidoche, known to its closest friends as Bibi. ]

MORDRED :

( Dinadan had a hard time choosing another horse,

but he needed one in order to go after the monster.

Every day, we attempt to track it down,

in vain.

At first, several knights joined us,

but despite splitting up and spending hours in the field…

No one’s ever seen it,

not even the locals. )

BRUNOR :

A thing that big can’t have disappeared from one day to the next.

DINADAN :

If it was made by the Grail, it could have.

BRUNOR :

So this Grail can do anything and everything, then?

DINADAN :

No, but I don’t know what it’s capable of.

Neither does Merlin, if he’s to be believed.

BRUNOR :

When he told you about that “spicy detail”? What a prick.

DINADAN :

No, before that.

Just before he rushed off with Percival in tow.

MERLIN :

Something intrigues me still.

The Grail is so ancient that it existed long before it was bound to a guardian.

I wasn’t there to see it, and I do not know what miracles it worked in human hands.

Riches, plenty, health and prosperity…

But like any magical item, it needs energy to function.

So who knows what it’ll do, now that it’s been freed from its guardian’s will?

BRUNOR :

So you’re telling me the Grail has a will of its own?

DINADAN :

I don’t know.

It’s clearly not your run-of-the-mill magical artifact, but

what’s most intriguing to me

is the fact that Lionel’s here, looking like that.

The king of Corbenic had the same affliction.

His son called it the “Grail madness”.

But if I understand correctly, it’s a consequence of using the Grail.

A backlash of its magic, when it draws energy from its guardian

and corrupts them in turn through repeated exposure

So why would a dead man exhibit the same symptoms?

There’s no life force to be found in a corpse.

BRUNOR :

I think you’re looking at it the wrong way.

You’re making assumptions off what you saw or heard.

But the Grail’s always existed, hasn’t it?

Others have seen it. There must be some archives somewhere.

MORDRED :

Or Merlin knows something about it he won’t tell us.

He hides things from people and manipulates them all the time.

He must know more than he lets on.

He probably could’ve taken better care of Percival, but he… [ worried ]

BRUNOR :

You seem to like this Percival person very much.

[ mordred jumps!! ]

MORDRED :

I-it’s just that…

[ embarrassed. he’s ashamed rip ]

DINADAN :

That said, you make an interesting point.

Maybe questioning Merlin won’t be entirely useless.

At any rate, Arthur should be lending us a hand. We might as well go and warn him.

MORDRED :

( Percival…

I wonder if he’s doing better. )

[ percy smiles!! ]

PERCIVAL :

( Life in Tintagel is peaceful.

The sound of waves, walks on the beach and along the cliffs…

Everything is so soothing.

Even for Sir Mark, apparently,

perpetually annoyed though he is.

Sir Tristan told me he went through many hardships,

one of which left him with a bad leg.

He came out of it a very bitter man.

The only times I see him smile are when he’s talking to his nephew or his wife.

Unequivocal affection radiates from these three. That is why…

witnessing Tristan and Iseult’s affair makes me so uneasy. )

PERCIVAL :

Why would they do such a thing to someone they genuinely care for?

I don’t understand…

Plus, I’d like to spend some time with Sir Tristan and get to know Dame Iseult, but they’re too busy hiding from Sir Mark.

GALAHAD :

Maybe Sir Mark’s already in the know…?

PALAMEDES :

( sigh )

Officially, Mark knows nothing.

But he’s far from a fool, and Tristan’s never been the discrete type.

It’s best for everyone involved that he keep feigning ignorance rather than openly admit to being a cuck.

Are you perhaps disappointed?

PERCIVAL :

You could say that.

PALAMEDES :

You know nothing of this situation.

And putting a knight like Tristan on a pedestal will only disappoint you. As accomplished as he may be, he’s still a human being, prone to making mistakes,

like the rest of us at the Round Table.

PERCIVAL :

At the…

Sir Palamedes, are you a knight of the Round Table?

PALAMEDES :

What…?

Yes!

Did your brothers never tell you about me?

PERCIVAL :

…No.

…Should they have?

But…?

GALAHAD :

I think you hurt her feelings…

PERCIVAL :

And I’ve had enough of people getting mad at me for things I’ve got no way of knowing.

GALAHAD :

I don’t think she blames you.

I believe she was your father’s last squire.

Maybe she and your brothers aren't on speaking terms right now?

PERCIVAL :

You sure know a lot.

Have you been a squire that long?

GALAHAD :

Oh, no.

I don’t know everything, but

Sir Bors brought me to Camelot when I was seven years old.

You could say I grew up there more than where I came from,

so I’ve seen a lot.

I even saw Sir Arthur and Sir Bedivere back when they barely had any white hair! ( Well, Sir Kay had already gone grey. )

[ bedivere and arthur shiny hair wow ]

PERCIVAL :

( Oh! )

Where you're from…so, France?

GALAHAD :

Why France? Does my accent sound French to you?

PERCIVAL :

Oh, no, it’s just that

Sir Bors does have an accent,

and I thought you were from the same family.

GALAHAD : …

You thought right.

But it’s a little complicated…

I think I was born in Corbenic,

since that’s where Sir Bors found me.

PERCIVAL :

( I’d like to ask her to elaborate, but

she doesn’t have to tell me anything more, after all. )

GALAHAD :

There’s a rider coming.

RIDER :

Squires of the Round Table.

I have a message for your knights,

from Arthur Pendragon himself.

It’s an emergency.

ROUND TABLE TRIVIA

Let’s talk about marriage!

For nobles, marriage is a contract, a means to political, economic or social ends. It is often arranged between both parties.

However, arranged doesn’t mean forced, and it isn’t uncommon for spouses to develop true affection for one another.

Caption : Arthur and Guinevere, married in the name of the alliance between Logres and Cameliard.

Mark and Iseult, married to strengthen the ties between Cornwall and Ireland. [ 20 years age gap ]

Big age gaps are rare and tend to be frowned upon.

In any case, marrying outside of one’s social class is very poorly looked upon.

Kay :

Darling, I need a kiss from my pleb of a husband right now, it’s an emergency.

Bedivere :

And I need ink, so I think we can come to an agreement.

Kay and Bedivere got married because they’re Punk.

Marrying for love is commonplace among commoners, even though some regard for social rules is still expected.
