LANCELOT

It seems we need to have this conversation after all.

So, tell me.

What do you blame me for, exactly?

BORS

… Galahad doesn’t have to endure our quarrel, Lancelot⎯

LANCELOT

Quarrel?

We’re having a conversation. Besides, it’s her business as well, isn’t it?

[ bors gulps. ]

BORS

… Listen, I…

… I love Galahad as I would my own child.

I’d do anything for her.

But you can understand that

it would only be fair

for that role to fall to her mother.

LANCELOT

My only duty is to knighthood.

BORS :

Lancelot⎯

LANCELOT

It should be yours, too.

But you aren’t living up to your duties.

You love Galahad, you say? And yet, she’s the one fighting in your stead.

Everyone fights in your stead. Why do you think she keeps refusing to be knighted?

She wants to stay by your side to take care of you.

BORS

Galahad…?

GALAHAD

LANCELOT

You’re too soft.

Too naive, perhaps,

to realize everyone’s walking on eggshells around you.

GALAHAD

Sir!

LANCELOT

Everyone’s been accommodating you for over three years.

BORS

Stop it.

LANCELOT

Perhaps it’s about time you confront the issue instead of fleeing from it,

and to stop feeling sorry for yourself for being a burden on others.

BORS

That’s enough, Lancelot⎯

LANCELOT

Letting Lionel’s memory haunt you

will not bring back the life you took from him.

[ bors throws himself at lancelot. ]

LANCELOT

Is that what you want, Bors?!

[ galahad turns and walks away. cut to the Other Squad. ]

MORDRED

Percival!

PALAMEDES

MORDRED!

The lance!

Get the lance, Mordred!

[ mordred goes for the lance. the thing spots him and goes for him also ]

GAWAIN

Don’t.

Touch.

Him.

Raise that weapon against him again,

and you’ll lose that ugly head of yours.

[ cut. again ]

BORS, LANCELOT

LANCELOT

… Did I hurt you?

BORS

Physically? I’ll live.

LANCELOT

I crossed the line.

BORS

Heh. You’re honest enough to say what others won’t.

And you’re right.

But it isn’t like you to be so harsh.

…I struck a nerve, didn’t I?

LANCELOT

Maybe so.

BORS

You don’t want to talk about it.

You never want to talk about it.

But I know you.

Besides, as a great soul once told me,

perhaps it’s time for me to confront the issue instead of running from it.

LANCELOT

Idiot.

BORS

In your case, though, I’m under the impression that

it’s Eliezer of Corbenic’s ghost haunting you.

LANCELOT

No.

I regret nothing.

It’s Arthur’s reaction

that’s haunting me.

BORS

His reaction?

LANCELOT

Everyone thinks I broke my vows of allegiance to Arthur in order not to dishonor him.

So I wouldn’t burden him with the sin of murder. But at the time, I asked him to make a stand.

But the Round Table, the unity of Britain, the peace he made…

… were worth more to him than true justice.

At least, that’s the message he sent when he refused to support me.

When he refused to demand justice for the unacceptable.

So I broke my vows to free myself from his decision.

I still have my own beliefs, but since he no longer wishes to share them with me, I keep wandering.

Sometimes, I wish people would simply forget about me.

But…

Knighthood is all I am. My whole life. I have neither the will nor the right to leave it behind.

BORS

…But you could leave the Round Table. Get away from all this.

I could come with you, support you⎯

LANCELOT

It’d only divide us further, Bors.

Open the door to larger issues, with no way out.

… That, and…

My heart belongs to Guinevere.

As long as she stays by Arthur’s side,

I’ll have a reason to return.

ROUND TABLE TRIVIA

Boars are a druid’s symbol, and therefore appear on their regalia and jewelry.

They’re also depicted on war-related items, as druids are often led to make decisions in battle.

The term is so widespread that druids-in-training are called piglets.

NPC

I wonder what Merlin and his piglets are doing right now.

Sometimes, words stray from their original meaning.
