MERLIN :

Here’s the hound we’ll use for the Grail.

This is how you use it.

This beam will point you in the direction of the Grail.

Ah, looks like there aren’t many of you available

Between the bedridden and those who went off on quests…

BORS :

This said, Gawain would probably like to come with, but I don’t know when she’ll come back from her quest.

MERLIN :

Too bad.

You know how the saying goes. You leave it, you lose it. She can still join us later, if she so likes.

BORS :

( Uh.

How is she going to join us if even we don’t know where we’re going? )

MERLIN :

There’s something special about hounds , though.

Their handling requires a specific understanding of magic,

so I volunteered to accompany you on this journey.

It’ll be weird to travel without magic. Just like old times.

Except this time, I won’t have a baby to deal with.

GALAHAD :

Aha… a baby?

MERLIN :

Go on, then, go get your things in order.

We’ll leave as soon as you’re ready.

PERCIVAL :

MORDRED :

Did Lamorak do this to you?

PERCIVAL :

 …

…By accident, yes.

He apologized profusely,

even if I knew it’d happen again.

During our trip, I saw him get up in the middle of the night.

He stared at me for a while before waking up.

I thought he was sleepwalking, at first,

but it must have been the Grail’s influence taking over him again.

It will come looking for eligible descendants, no matter the cost.

MORDRED :

Eligible descendants?

PERCIVAL :

…It’s a long, sordid story, but

I am one of the Grail’s potential guardians.

Galahad is the other.

MORDRED :

… [ hand holding aww ]

You seem determined and terrified all at once.

PERCIVAL :

I am.

MORDRED :

Gawain says being scared is what allows you to be brave.

Whatever you decide,

it won’t change my feelings for you.

PERCIVAL :

( Aw… )

Are you sure you don’t want to come with us?

I want to spend more time with you.

MORDRED :

[ sighs ]

I really need to talk to Gawain.

We’ll catch up to you if we can.

And, well, we’ve got to get used to this.

After we’re knighted, we’ll go on different quests,

but it’ll make our reunions even better.

… Besides…

Next time we see each other,

we could pick up where we left off…?

PERCIVAL :

( Hehe… )

How bold,

coming from someone who blushes when I hold his hand in public.

[ when they reunited!! ]

MORDRED :

It’s indecent!

PERCIVAL :

You kissed me in front of everyone last time!

MORDRED :

It was different! Talking back to Gawain made me brazen, and⎯

[ back to the listebros’ rooms ]

AGLOVALE :

PERCIVAL :

Aglovale?

Sir Bors came back this morning.

You wanted to see him, right?

AGLOVALE :

 Oh, right.

[ he packs some more stuff. ]

I will try to encourage him to…

…speak with Galahad.

It’ll be better for her to hear it from him, rather than from me.

PERCIVAL :

[ sidles closer ]

Does she really have to know all the details?

AGLOVALE :

It isn’t my place to decide, one way or another.

Bors will have to make that call.

PERCIVAL :

I will be the Grail’s guardian.

She shouldn’t have to do this.

I need to take responsibility and⎯

AGLOVALE :

Percival.

We’ll discuss this when you return to Camelot.

Don’t make any decisions on your own.

I won’t let you face this situation alone, do you hear me?

[ they hug awww ]

PERCIVAL :

I’m glad you came for me in North Wales,

and that you brought me back here to the two of you,

despite everything that’s happened.

I’m just happy to be with you.

AGLOVALE :

What’s going on with you?

PERCIVAL :

I’m scared, Aglovale…

…that you won’t come back from your cure.

AGLOVALE :

Dame Morgan will look after me.

I’ll get some rest, and proper treatment.

All will be well, you’ll see.

PERCIVAL :

( And yet, as I hugged him tight to my chest,

all I could hear was the wheeze of his breathing. )

[ cut to the stables ]

MORDRED :

Gawain.

I think we should talk.

GAWAIN :

ROUND TABLE TRIVIA

In Merlin’s time, food was eaten using “bread plates”, called trenchers.

Merlin :

You put your meals in trenchers, and you could even eat them at the end,

or share them with your buddies.

The word companion/copain (friend in French), from the latin “one who shares the same bread’, may be derived from trenchers.
