Extra public rehearsal Saturday, 25 January, at 17 h. 45 included Wagner: Les Maîtres Chanteurs (ouverture), Crépuscule excerpts, and 4 Mélodies of Grieg, sung by Flagstad. According to Robert Tuggle, archivist of the Metropolitan Opera and biographer of Kirsten Flagstad, Cluytens refused to have Flagstad sing the Liebestod at the Sunday concerts, for reasons so far unknown.
