A. This week I have found existence of "Deaf-culture".
According to the Inoue & Shimane's research, education status affects their feeling of identity. They researched 41 people who were lives in Tokyo & Saitama in 2008. Average age was 41.50 years old. Only experienced deaf education was 65%, mixed education was 26%, only integrative education was 7%. Then they found that people who have experienced both education had most conflicting their identity(100%). Following only integration(66.7%), third place was only deaf education(29.6%).
I think "deaf-culture" caused such situation. According to the Tsukuba-technology university's report in 2001, students who have changed the schools from deaf-school to normal school have not communicated well with other students there (also, they have not liked music lesson). While, according to the Torigoe and Kai's report, students from normal school to school for the deaf have also had issues about communicative differences. Experiencing both type of schools confused them, and it is caused from difference of culture.
B & C. This facts gave two question for me. First is what is the "deaf culture", and next is the process of make themselves identity. In addition, Sae also gave me the question, "Why did their parents choose normal schools or special education schools?", "What suffering have they experienced?" and "Are there the way to make good use of their ability?". From these questions, I would like to focus on education and their way to life of hard-of-hearing people, including their identity and culture.
