Since April, disabled people in Korea have been holding a demo on subways to appeal for their rights. This is because they are demanding more support for the activities of the disabled, but they are even denied meeting by the state. They argued, "I want to move, work, and receive education." Japan has the same problem. Shuhei graduated from a university in the United States and said that he can speak English and have computer skills. But he was unable to get a job in Japan because of his disabilities. He argued that disabled people cannot get a job in Japan. I was sad that many people were not interested in this problem, even though they cannot enjoy the rights that we naturally enjoy.
It is recently that Japan has legally guaranteed the rights of the disabled. In 2007, Japan signed the “Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities" in UN, and the treaty has been in place since 2014. Compared to the period in which disabled people have been discriminated against until this time, the period in which they began to be guaranteed rights is too short. Society is still discriminating against the disabled, and their lives have not improved.
I'm interested in the right of disabled people to work. Because of their disabilities, they have few opportunities to receive education, and even if they receive education, they cannot get a job where they want. I want to use the idea of what kind of education system is needed for the disabled and what is needed to get a job.

Although the employment policy for the disabled is in place, I have learned that it is still difficult for them to get a job. Disabled people enter special education facilities from an early age and take classes separately from ordinary children. This environment instills the perception that they are disabled on your own, and they receive education tailored to the characteristics of disability without getting along with ordinary children. When these children grow up, they cannot get a job like ordinary people. Even though they get a job, it is difficult for them to do teamwork with ordinary people. I questioned whether using special education facilities for disabled people would help their social activities, including getting a job.
Previously, I thought that the employment policy for the disabled was helpful. This is because if the employment of the disabled is set as an obligation, working spaces for them will be secured. However, through doing this research, I though that it leads to focus on disability rather than skills and missies the point about inclusion. We are doing various activities for them, but special treatment sometimes builds up a wall between the disabled and us, and disturbs looking at their abilities.

I learned the need for technology development for the disabled to fully demonstrate their abilities. For example, people who are unable to move their bodies can use computer technology that reads people’s eyes movements and make sentences. Previously, I’ve seen the video that people who cannot move their bodies could play musical instruments using computers. Technology is a means to expand the scope of the activities of the disabled.
I used to think that we should help people with disabilities because they couldn't do something alone. However, the goal of a normalization is the independence of the disabled. When the disabled can't get help from others, they can't do anything. I came to think that special treatment for the disabled sometimes leads to hindering their independence. We should not stay in support to just help people with disabilities. We have to find an answer; how they can stand on their own feet.
I think the reason why people with disabilities cannot get a job is that the companies do not see the disabled as a person who can work, but only recognizes them as being dependent on helps from the others. Employment policy for the disabled should be changed, so it can help the disabled to prove their abilities and make them become independent.

I learned why support for the disabled should be more provided in discussions. The number of people with disabilities has increased than before because the awareness of the disabled is getting better, and many parents actively check their children for disabilities. This caused the demand for support for the disabled to increase. However, it is difficult for Japan because government has a large burden of social welfare costs due to the aging population. I think that the government is forcing private companies to hire people with disabilities to ease the burden of social welfare costs.
The employment policy for peoples with disabilities is based on the framework of "special support for them," so the company focuses only on disabilities rather than individuality and ability they have. The fact that the disabled is separated from ordinary people and trapped in a single frame. It leads to exclusive atmosphere. Therefore, I thought that specialized facilities are not helpful for the disabled. However, through the discussion, it was pointed out that people with disabilities need one-on-one correspondence before they can become independent themselves, and the role of specialized facilities is important. In Japan, where group life is a social norm, I wonder what kind of inclusive system is needed for social minorities.

I thought we should reduce special schools for the disabled and take same classes with everyone at general schools. This is because when I was an elementary school student, I took classes and played with a friend with low intelligence, but there was no problem. However, through the discussion, I learned that it is difficult to respond one-to-one to the individuality of the disabled in general schools. Reasonable accommodation in education is a concept that began with Europe and America which set importance on individual’s diversity. It is difficult to apply it to the Japanese educational system that values overall harmony. I felt that Japan's unique education system lacked a system to match the individuality of the disabled excepting special schools.
The presentation on children's poverty was impressive. According to Chisaki's presentation, people in relative poverty have a problem in terms of culture, food, clothing, and shelter, but on the surface, their daily lives are maintained. It makes difficult for society to recognize their difficulties. This point relates to my presentation. Though the disabled received subsidies from the state and maintain their daily lives, but they are still poor because they cannot get a job, and we, who have few opportunities to contact them in our daily lives, feel it difficult to recognize what difficulties the disabled have exactly.
It was difficult to understand why the employment of the disabled is not properly carried out in the mandatory employment policy for them in the presentation, so I will put a picture. Also, I will add cases that it is difficult for disabled students to be accepted in general schools because it is important to know that they are rejected even if they try to enter general schools.
