I focus on the relationship between LGBT and media. In the spring semester, I researched workplace working conditions of LGBT people, followed by a look at the foster care system for same-sex couples. Both the workplace and the foster care system are not yet accepted by the people around them. In addition, the environment is not yet ready. I need to create a better place for LGBT people to live and people need to understand them better. I thought the media could be a big part of this. The familiarity with the media has created a variety of communities and opportunities to share opinions. I would like to know how such media affect LGBT people.
Due to the broad scope of the media need to be identified and studied. In general terms, the media can be a catalyst for becoming aware of one's own LGBT identity, a place to come out, or a place to interact.
I would like to focus on the movie. What impact has the increase in LGBT related movies had? How did their attitudes change? What has been the impact on the community? I would like to examine the relationship with the LGBT community based on the toujisya's voice involved.
I think if the media might play a role like affirmative action for LGBT people. (223 words)
I learned that there are LGBT people who are not fit in LGBT community, and didn't know LGBT community. I thought this problem may be able to solve using SNS. In addition, Regarding the survey on what communities LGBT people are coming out in, the most common response was friends. It is important to have friends that you feel comfortable enough to come out to, and we thought that sometimes friends can be made though SNS communities. I am interested in self-esteem(自己肯定感). Not only LGBT people and also all minorities are low self-esteem. I think it has a lot to do with external factors, regardless of whether one's mentality is weak or strong. Chiaski thought a place for children in poverty to enhance their sense of self-esteem. I thought that SNS could be a place for LGBT people. As Mr.Mike mentioned, there are age restrictions for children's cafeterias and other facilities. There are no age restrictions on SNS. On the other hand, however, due to the unstable nature of SNS relationships, they are less reliable as a place to stay.
I want to make a comparison with a time when there were no SNS. However, there was no focus on LGBT people in that era and the material may not be available. I'd like to look into perspectives from 当事者以外の人. (237 words)
From my research, since the early 2000s, when SNS began to become popular, the word LGBT has been seen in newspaper articles. In addition, since around 2000, ordinances have gradually been created that include recognition of homosexuality. I think that SNS as well as municipal policies are the reasons why the term LGBT has spread. SNS allows anyone to easily transmit information and anyone can see it. This shows that even people who ware not originally famous can become influential to young people. When influential people communicate about LGBT or come out, it increases the number of young people who agree with them and makes life easier for LGBT people. In addition, from discussion with Yuika, we think that the spread of better understanding of LGBT through social networking is a way of spreading the message that suits Japan. However, it is also true that the nature of SNS does not allow for full understanding(ex. we don't even read the body of the article.).
According to 朝日新聞クロスリサーチ(manaba), I found that the number of word LGBT is increase from 2015 in newspaper. I think that is relative with shibuya-ku 's local government 's policy. The trend toward recogniing diversity was felt to be related not only to the influence of SNS, but also to the policies of local governments. At the same time, I noticed disadvantages arising from the characteristics of SNS.
I focused on the relationship between SNS and LGBT people. How do LGBT people use SNS to create a place? How can people who are not part of the LGBT community use SNS to create a society that recognizes diversity?(293 words)
From Chisaki's presentation, I'm interested in disparity. I was sueprised at the fact that the data shows that financial problems create disparities in awarenass, effort and so on. During the discussion, we discussed the reasons why poverty has not been eliminated. I think that the reason poverty is not eliminated is very much due to the influence of parents. For example, families who are self-employed or farming in rural areas often do not have the option of going to college in the first place. In the same way, if there is no one around you who is going to college, you will have few options in the first place. For Japan, which is an academic society, not going to college means not being able to lead an adequate life (going to college, going to cram school, getting a job at a good company, etc.). For Japan, the hurdle to an adequate life is very high.
I think that it is important to "know" about the place for children and LGBT. Social minorities may be subject to new prejudices due to incorrect or inadequate knowledge. To this end, it is important to increase opportunities to know.
An easy-to-watch tool (such as a short video) as a first step to better understand LGBT may be effective for those who have no knowledge at all. The impact received from SNS may differ in terms of the different reactions to International Coming Out Day in Japan and abroad. I would like to conduct research on this point as well.(258 words)
From Toshi's presentation and discussion, I have one opinion to understand for all people deeply about 障害者雇用(employment of people with disabilities). Toshi introduced "diversity career forum 2022. When I checked this forum's website, I thought the companies which attend it are famous. Then, I think it is important for employer and empolyee to know about various companies.
From Yuika's presentation and discussion, I have never known some government sites incorporate やさしい日本語 while others do not. In fact, I have rarely seen やさしい日本語 in my daily life.
Osaka-city is working on not only LGBT but also やさしい日本語. I think that Osaka-city is recognized diversity. It is important for other municipality to spread やさしい日本語.
From Sain's presentation and discussion, it was the first time I learned that barrier-free access has been advanced rather recently. When I was a elementary school student and junior high school student, I took classes with people with disabilities. I felt that the environment they were inevitably placed in by invisible barriers was leading to a lowering of their self-esteem. As Chisaki presented on child poverty, I felt that environment and self-esteem are related for people with disabilities as well.(229 words)
I learned about inclusive education from Yuuka's presentation and discussion. I had never been aware of inclusive education before. It was the first time I learned that there are two types of inclusive education: partial inclusion and full inclusion. The elementary school I attended was a school that adopted inclusive education. At that time, I did not feel much difference between those who had disabilities and those who did not. However, when I entered junior high school, I went to a school a little farther away from the middle school. Also, the junior high school I attended had special-needs classes, but there were few classes to interact with them. When I was in high school, there were no more classes called "special needs classes" and no one with disabilities. This made me think that the older I got, the more distance I felt from people with disabilities.
From Himika's presentation and discussion, I thought about the difficulty of the job hunting style of people with questionings. As was mentioned in the presentation, efforts are gradually being made to make the gender field optional on resumes and other documents. However, the only suits available are either women's suits or men's suits. Women's suits also include pants styles, but only those that give a silhouette unique to women. For example, there are no oversized suits or menswear-like suits.Of course, there are advantages to wearing suits. You will not be judged by your appearance, and your abilities will be seen clearly. However, isn't the ideal form that everyone is looking for to conduct job hunting in a style that you are comfortable with and receive a job offer? (276 words)
I was not able to hear Tom's presentation...
I can know from RN4 that toujisya's voice. Many articles say " LGBTQ + youth use SNS to make friends". That is true. They expand circle of friends through using SNS. She also said she has never felt dad about using SNS. There was also an article about being cyberbullying because of being a sexual minority, but a survey in the US showed that the number of straight people and sexual minorities who are cyberbullying is the same.
In addition, I'm interested in "Pronoun". I realized for the first time that being misnamed or using the wrong pronoun is a very hurtful act. I found it very effective to use social networking sites to publicize my pronouns. And this is not limited to sexual minorities, straight people can also use it to support LGBTQ + people as allies.
It was a great opportunity to learn specifically how LGBT people use SNS. I also learned that their use can be a statement that we straight people are allies. In fact, the stickers that HRC sells were well designed and cute enough to want. I thought these were information that could be added to the previously presented guidelines and about Ally.(211 words)
