In this week, I researched general information about foreign workers. I searched statistics at some ministries because I need neutral and fact based information. In 2010, the number of inflows of foreign nationals, new entrants to work, incoming trainees are decreasing from former years. This decreasing is because of economic downtown. So government set up Technical Intern training Program. This aimed to improve compliance with employment laws to protect trainees from abuse. These information came from OECD. These data is a bit old. So I tried to search newer data.
I searched newer data at the ministry of economic and industry. To my surprise, data from it is different from the one from OECD. In 2014, the number of officers which employs foreigners and foreign workers is increasing from former years. This reason is because of some governmental policy, the system of highly foreign human resources, the system of informing the number of foreign workers which officers employs, the system of increasing study abroad students, and improved situation of employment. I was surprised at this difference and reasons to change situations. I knew from this our society is increasing the number of foreign workers. And I also surprised to know over 50% of foreign workers live in following area, Tokyo, Aichi, Kanagawa and Osaka. They gathers to urban area. And most of foreign workers are Chinese, and Brazil and Philippines follows. Vietnams and Nepali is increasing strongly. Most of them came from Asia. I was able to find an important actor in this week, is Chinese. Chinese occupy 39.6% of foreign workers in Japan. I can focus on them as an actor. These information mainly came from ministry of economic andindustry. (286 words 20 minutes)
