This week, I researched about the connections between the World Food Programme and Japan as actors who are trying to solve hunger in Africa Japan is the third country in the world in terms of the amount of contribution, mainly about funds to the World Food Programme. In 2006, the fund from Japan to the World Food Programme was about $ 0.714 million and the amount was continued to become more. In 2011, the fund from Japan to the World Food Programme became $ 2819 million at last.
There are strong partnerships with the World Food Programme and Japan’s NGOs. World Vision Japan is one of the Japan’s NGOs which are partners with the World Food Programme. It has been contributed to 10 African countries, Sudan, South Sudan, Congo, Zambia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zimbabue.
The World Food Programme has many projects and WFP school meals programme is one of those projects. There are a lot of effects, for example, improvement in attending school, concentrating on education, opportunities of education for girls and nutritious meal at least once a day. Nutritious meal prevents children from suffering from iron deficiency, iodine deficiency, intestinal parasites, Vitamin A deficiency
and HIV/AIDS. I researched the partnership between Japan and the World Food Programme on the website of the World Food Programme, so it was difficult to find some criticisms against the assistance from Japan. There will be some criticisms against Japan as well as the United Organizations, so I will research about criticisms from local people against Japan and the World Vision Japan before I make my presentation in this cycle.
