Why a VLAN?

In its simplest variety, a Wanderbox features a single LAN port. Typically, a deployment on an X5 would have utilised one of the available LAN ports to connect to the on site LAN environment. The local IP phones would be deployed on a network connected to another X5 LAN port, which would have been providing DHCP services.

As Wanderbox supports a single LAN port by default, we need a different means to replicate this kind of setup. To accomplish this, we'll use the VLAN port that is configured by default on the Wanderbox, to provide DHCP services to the IP phones, which will then reside on a VLAN, but on the same switch and infrastructure as the office's LAN.
