Manual Backups

Manual backups are created on the system maintenance page of the GUI.

Creating a backup

Users are provided with the ability to create backups of the PBX configuration, the PBX licenses, PBX log files, and call detail records. Each creating an individual package, which can be downloaded onto a PC, and restored on the same, or a different Far South Networks PBX.

Restoring a backup on to the same system

In order to restore an existing backup, simply click on the backup, and select Open:

This will cause the GUI to open the backup in offline mode.

While in offline mode, you will have the opportunity to make changes to the backup before you restore it. You are also able to make changes to the backup before saving it again, without restoring it.

While open in offline mode, the live configuration on the PBX is not affected.

Once you have made any changes to the backup, and you're ready to restore, select "Start" and then "Restore" in order to restore your configuration.

This will open a tasks list similar to that presented when applying changes. The task list will reflect the progress through the individual tasks.

After the restore is complete, you will be logged out of the Offline GUI and made to log back in to the GUI in Live/Online mode

Restoring the Backup on to a different system

To restore the backup on to a new system, you'd need first save the backup to your lap top or computer.

To do this, right-click on the backup and select Save As. The backup will be downloaded to your machine.

Then log in to the PBX on which you would like to restore the backup, navigate to system maintenance, locate the Manual Backups section of the backup, click Options, and select Upload.

The backup will then be uploaded, and can be restored in the same manner as above; By selecting Open, making any required edits to the configuration, and then restoring the configuration
