Call Screening

This is to setup up Call Screening on your Com.X, if a PA or Receptionist would screen a call destined for the CEO for example. They could then choose whether to accept, reject, or transfer the call. They could also allow calls to to go directly to CEO, with just a toggle of a button.

A simple background into how this configuration would work:

  • create a day/night mode that routes calls to the PA when enabled, and to the CEO when disabled.
  • All inbound calls to the CEO's number ring to this switch, and ultimately to the PA when enabled, and to the CEO when disabled.
  • The day/night mode can be toggled by dialing *280.
  • All other extensions are barred from dialing the CEO directly.
  • If they try to dial the CEO's number, the call is sent to the day/night destination, ringing either the CEO or the PA depending on whether the day mode is enabled or disabled.
  • This allows the CEO to dynamically toggle between receiving calls directly, or having all calls routed through the PA.
  • With this configuration, all internal users are still able to transfer to the CEO's extension, regardless of the state of the day/night destination.

1. Log into the Comma GUI.

2. Select Start

3. Select Configuration

4.Select Advanced menu tab

5. Select Day/Night Control

6. Select Add

7.At Day/Night Feature Code select a Feature Code Index between 0-9

7. Enter Call Screening at description

8. At Current Mode select Normal (Green/BLF off)

9. At Optional Password enter a password to only allow users with password to toggle feature


10. At Normal Flow (Green/BLF off) select Extensions and select the PA's extension

11. At Override Flow (Red/BLF on) select Extensions and select the CEO's extension

12. Select Submit.

13. Select Review/Apply

14. Select the Inbound tab

15. Select Add

16. Add a DID( Direct Inward Dialing which allows a number of incoming numbers to be serviced across a limited number of physical connections from the telco to the PBX.)

17. Add Call Screening as the Description

18. Select the Destination as the Day/Night Call Screening feature configured above.

19. Select Accept

20. Select Review/Apply

21. Select Flexpath tab

22. Select Add

23. Name the FlexPath: Call Screening

24. Add an Account Code if wanting to group calls for billing purposes.

25. Select Accept

26. Select Options on the above configured Path

27. Select Add Route

28. Select Match as the Routing Mode

29. Add the above configured DID as the Pattern

30. Select Inbound DID's as the destination.

31. Select Accept

32. Under the Ports, Right click on all other extensions barred from dialing the CEO directly and assign Call Screening flexpath to each extension.

30. Select Review Apply
