Audience:

  • An environmental science teacher would benefit by a visit to The Wildlife Learning Center because it provides local examples of displaced animals by the expansion of human cities.

  • The center shows the impact of the pet trade on animals such as large reptiles

  • Any life science teacher that wants to show the affects of humans on animals.

    • There are many animals at the center that have been injured due to cars or other city phenomenon

Science Concepts Addressed:

  • Ecological restoration: There are handouts on preserving the natural habitat of these animals

  • Endangered habitats: There is a red tail hawk that was hit by a car because a freeway goes through his home

  • Biodiversity: the center is the home of many animal and plant species

  • Adaptations: Many examples of species adaptations can be encountered as students go through their walk
