The 6th program of “Global Tips” was held on 2016/10/26

The 6th program of “Global Tips”; entitled “Italian Tips-the Charms of Florence-”was held on 2016/10/26 (Wednesday) at lunch time (12:20~12:50).

The program was conducted under the project of “Global Tips” at Learning Forest with the mutual aid of Toyo University Research Institute of Human Science, and Hakusan Library of Toyo University. There are 56 people participating in this program. The year 2016 is the 150th anniversary year of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Italy. Professor Nakabasami Chieko (Faculty of Regional Development Studies) went on a research tour to Florence with her students last September.


The 6 under-graduate students and 1 graduate student of Faculty of Regional Development Studies made presentations on this tour. In the first session, the 4 speakers (students) introduced Florence based on their different topics: the beauty of Florence, its history and the sights such as Palazzo Vecchio, Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio (old bridge) and the statue of David etc. The other 2 speakers introduced the infrastructure of the city, transportation and the environmental problems including garbage management. They also showed different varieties of Florentine foods through pictures. The graduate student spoke about Venice; its geographical location, attractions, sightseeing places, and famous arts.


Finally, Professor Kondo Hiroko (Faculty of Economics) and Professor Nakabasami Chieko introduced Toyo University’s associated institutions in Italy; University of Florence and Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation in Florence. They recommended the participants to visit Italy especially to Florence using some Italian languages.
