The mission of the Security Management Division (SMD) is to establish and maintain various security programs designed to promote secure work and learning environments for DoDEA students, staff and visitors. SMD strives to meet current and emerging threats to our mission head on, through the prudent application of programmatic policies, introduction of achievable operational procedures, and continuous outreach with the military commands, host installation counterparts, and our customers.
SMD strives to enhance the Force Protection program by creating a collaborative virtual working platform for DoDEA Leadership and Host Agency Emergency Responders to consolidate efforts in communicating goals, objectives, and information. Under the supervision of the Security Management Division (SMD) and the collaboration of the Pacific East Superintendent and Chief of Staff, the Pacific East Force Protection Officer has worked with the twenty Pacific East school principals, assistant principals, Administrative Officers, and countless emergency responders in the six geographically dispersed bases by creating synergies in communicating force protection goals, objectives, and information.

Using of the automated system by DoDEA Designated Officials and First Responders as a key component during force protection tabletop exercises. This gives both the presenter and tabletop participants a realistic view of spaces and areas throughout a school, which improves and encourages audience participation. It provides enhanced response team training, school familiarization, and post-event recovery and analysis information. This capability can be achieved remotely or in a conference environment.
Utilizing DoDEA SMD’s system of record, which contains the following for each school:

Drill schedules, associated after-action reports and comments
Emergency Action Plans
Force Protection Assessments
Random Antiterrorism schedules and tracker
Bus Safe Haven listing
Associated installation, major commands, European Command etc., operation orders and guidance
Additionally, the DoDEA SMD automated system has been developed to accommodate Safety and Transportation line of efforts in their mission to support DoDEA students, personnel, buildings, and schools.
The Security Management Division (SMD) has facilitated registration, training for DoDEA District and School Designated Officials, and implementation of DoDEA SMD’s Force Protection automated system and its applicability to DoDEA for the protection of DoDEA students, employees, buildings, and schools.
With contracting efforts of Digital Security Mapping, the automated system provides a fully immersive, 360° panoramic walk through and floorplans, which provide a realistic visualization of an entire DoDEA school providing first responders, emergency personnel, and DoDEA designated officials with reliable, site-specific, critical information such as ventilation, communication, alarms, fire sprinklers, security cameras, water, gas and electricity access points, and shut-offs, that can be used to facilitate/conduct emergency responses, post incident reconstruction, and security preparedness training in a virtual environment.
