The Pacific East District actively strives to improve communication within the district by providing communication tools to all schools. Tools include communication plans, communication matrices, and communication details. These tools promote and outline communication approaches by schools and the district. These tools keep stakeholders informed and provide two-way communication opportunities between all stakeholder groups.
The communication matrix , details, and plan promote continuity of the roles and establish the frequency of communication with all stakeholders. Current communication processes and practices are reflective of current COVID-19 guidelines and protocols.
The Pacific East has positively impacted district communication as evidence by:
Providing communication tools
Building stakeholders’ shared understanding of district processes and expectations
The Pacific East District developed and implemented the Communication Matrix and Communication Details as resources for schools to utilize when reflecting upon their communication approaches. It had been observed during the Internal Review Visits conducted in SY 2015-2016 that communication was a pattern of concern throughout the schools.
The Pacific East District established the expectation that schools annually review and update their communication matrices, details, and plan. In addition, all schools' communication matrices, details, and plans were made available as resources.
The Pacific East District included reflection of communication matrices, details, and plans during Internal Review Visits. This was done during the school presentation and discussion components of the visit. The district office continued making all schools’ communication matrices, details, and plans available as resources.

Communication was reshaped to address the needs associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Pacific East District added COVID-19 Response Teams at each school. The purpose of this was to maintain a team approach to managing, implementing, and communicating the fluid situation associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 Response Teams are representative of diverse stakeholder groups, including school administrators, the school nurse, educators, and parents.
The Steering Committee formalized a Communication Flowchart for the Pacific East District.
The observation that communication appeared less frequently in stakeholder feedback sessions during Internal Review Visits resulting in a Next Step associated with communication is a positive trend.
