In addition to supporting student learning and monitoring student achievement, the data from DoDEA-CAS informs instructional decisions.
The Pacific East also collaborates with individuals contracted with College Board and ACT to provide our students the opportunity to take the SAT and ACT at our six high schools.
In order to maximize the implementation of the DoDEA-CAS consistently with fidelity, the Pacific East District partners with DoDEA Headquarters, where a specialist is dedicated to each assessment. A plethora of training is offered for the logistics, reporting, and communication of the assessments. These trainings are located in the Schology Assessment of Learning LMS Group. The Pacific East District designed and implemented Pacific East Assessment Squads (PEAS) to manage the logistics associated with consistently implementing the assessment with fidelity within our schools.
In addition to expanding our assessment arsenal over the last five years, the Pacific East District has developed the Pacific East Dashboard to make data readily available in TEAMS and engages colleagues in data use through Focused Collaboration and the Pacific East Data Management System (PEDMS).
The Pacific East District has positively impacted our comprehensive assessment program and use of data to inform instructional decisions as evidenced by:
Expanding our assessment arsenal
Developing and implementing the Pacific East Assessment Squad (PEAS) to manage the logistics of implementing assessments consistently with fidelity
Developing and implementing the Pacific East Dashboard to make data readily available for colleagues
Embedding the use of data in Focused Collaboration
Developing and implementing the Pacific East Data Management System (PEDMS)
DoDEA identified the assessments to support its College and Career Ready Standards assessment arsenal and outlined a timeline for their implementation.
The assessment arsenal was expanded to include the CCRS Summative Assessment for mathematics in grades 3-8, Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II and for literacy in grades 6-8 and 10.
The assessment arsenal was expanded to include the ACTFL Assessment of Performance toward Proficiency in Languages (AAPPL) World Languages, CogAT, and CCRS Interims for mathematics in grades 3-8, Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II and literacy in grades 6-8 and 10.
The Pacific East District reshaped its Focused Collaboration to strengthen the utilization of data to inform instruction.
The Pacific East designed and implemented the Pacific East Assessment Squads (PEAS) to manage the implementation of the assessment consistently with fidelity.
The assessment arsenal was expanded to include the CCRS Summative in literacy in grades 3-5, CCRS Interims for literacy in grades 3-5, and the WIDA Screener, ACCESS. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, DoDEA summative assessments were not administered during this school year.
DoDEA focused on the implementation of assessments during the COVID-19 pandemic and was able to administer all assessments as planned.
DoDEA transitioned from the Benchmark Assessment System (BAS) for reading in primary grades to the Oral Reading Records assessment for elementary grades.
