This "Autumn Tree" was infected by bugs,

and produced glue-like juice dripping on my neighbor's walkway,

and the old lady protested as she has happily acted as American neighbors :-)

So we had it chopped down after 50 years of growth,

about the age of Sigma Fraternity of CKU.

The same disease had also infected nearby maple trees planted by city,

and they were mercilessly chopped down last fall, for the sake of community environment,

as the so called "anti-terrorist action."

But as a man of "double tree",

I am very happy to see this old tree has grown new branches from the rim of the cut.

This picture was taken last month,

and then my Vietnamese gardener cut the new branches down again as he thought he should.

Now I put a sign on the spot, and glad to see new lines coming out again,

fresh green without infection.

Who said that tree will die of disease and cannot recover by itself ?

故曰： 楸樹夏日生新枝。

“樹猶如此”， 人何不歡！
