The Coral Maw

Marked by rising coral cliffs and pillars with shallow straits and grand atolls, all manner of marine life swells within the region.

Geography

The Tidal Curtain. A vertical swell of water that cuts through the region in cycles of destruction. Anything caught within it is cut through instantly, be it flesh, wood, steel or stone.

The Verdurous Straits. Twisting passages choked by the kelp that uncontrollably grows hiding the deadly shallows of the straits.

The Wraith Reef. A zone of death within the Coral Maw, where all the life is leeched from creatures that enter, turning all a ghostly white.

Roads and Landmarks

The Death Spout. Like the death throes of some titanic creature, from beneath the waters a vast whirlpool forms in the darkened days, but as the red moon of Sang-Lune rises at night, a spout forms that can be seen and heard from miles the ragged roar of the world.

The Hermit Palace. An island-sized crustacean that is said to roam the Coral Maw, atop its back a set of ruins that hold unknown treasures of ages past.

The Sunken Horde. The shallow lagoon at the northern edge of the Maw, where innumerable petrified humanoid remains lie at the bottom. Oft said of the lagoon is that during unknown cycles of elemental power the lagoon might take new victims to forever hold.

Settlements

Due to the tempestuous nature of the region, none are able to sustain a permanent settlement within the Coral Maw.

Ruins and Subterrane

Below the Coral Maw as it lies within the ocean of the Elder Deeps none truly know what lies at its bottom. Though undoubtedly in the Depths, rising from the chasms of the Hated Sheer are the unfathomable horrors thought quelled at the end of the Age of Water where eldritch power corrupted the whole of the world. The region still bears the remnants of the battle for control between the dragonkin and the eldritch.

Ahqualakinnd. The ruined palace of a Dragon Queen of blue ancestry. Those passing are said to have observed immense arcs of lightning that pass between the ruins arches and pillars.

Ogdaughsoth. An Eldritch ruin said to be within a hidden atoll filled with shipwrecks, claimed by the Eldritch horrors that live there.
