The Ebonkarst

Like blades of basalt rock, the jagged formations create the labyrinthian expanse that surrounds the waters of the Mirkmere. Within the eerie mists that pervade the lands, it is said that monsters came to be.

Geography

The Dread Eyrie. The sheer escarpments on northwestern edge of the region swarm with all manner of winged monstrosity, as they range over the Windward Steppes seeking their prey to dash upon the dagger like rocks below their nests. The bones of countless creatures lie shattered along the edge of these cliffs.

The Last Egress. The name given the western breach of the Ebonkarst, where the razor sharp crags open a dreadful passage into the monstrous maze.

The Mirkmere. The vast freshwater sea that lies at the center of the gloom that pervades the Ebonkarst. It is unknown what lies within this place, save a purported landmass within the waters, and horrors beyond imagining.

The Strait of Rending. The toxic river shallows that flow through the Ebonkarst and into the Mirkmere. Teeming with monstrous forms that devour any who would seek to pass.

Roads and Landmarks

The Threaded Trail. A mythic passage through the Ebonkarst, said to have been marked by sprouts of Threadgrass, by a lone wandering druid of Domuq seeking to purify the darkened heart of the region.

Settlements

Warrendown. An Earth Eleman village at the most southwestern edge of the Ebonkarst. The settlement serves as a bastion of warning against what lies within this dreadful labyrinthine region. Many who come to challenge themselves against the region, begin in seeking the wisdom of the children of the Earth Divide.

Ruins and Subterrane

The Ebonkarst rises from the Throne of Ash in the Depths, the volcanism creating the maze of sharp and blackened rock. Countless passages into the Depths exist and unknown ruins and secrets all the more dark, undiscovered for ages at its heart.

Vedikar. A known ruined city of the draconic within the northern reaches of the Ebonkarst. At the end of the Age of Fire the lycans sent forth a pack in order to destroy the draconic population. Though never returning the pack assured the city's destruction as their leader sent words upon the wind of the dragon's demise. An expedition during the War of Extinction revealed a great battle had taken place for the city, but finding not the remains of the dead or trace of the pack.
