Factions of Kyme

The Arkyme

The Arkyme began as a secret gathering of arcane practitioners from the disparate races who sought solace from the endless bloodshed. Through the years the war continued to rage and the costs grew ever greater, contrition and reason was replaced by attrition and wrath. Led by the Human Magister Ekko Phydel, a Vampiric Spell Weaver Vellumtine Gascogne, a Dwarven Arcanist Thund Sunderwill, and a being of an otherworldly nature who called themselves "The Unfollowed," all began work on a means to end the war. Out of this endeavor came the Chattel, though at great cost, Magister Phydel and the Fell were lost in their creation. The Chattel, using the knowledge of "The Unfollowed" they had created a self replicating homunculus to serve as the lifeblood of the vampires and eliminating the impetus behind the conflict, thereby forging a path to peace. The members of the Arkyme emerged from the shadows, drawing support en masse for the neutral faction in order to quell the violence that had infected all the races. Through this peace the races constructed the City of Arkyme which is positioned along the Elemental Divide and now serves as a central focus of learning and guidance for all of Kyme.

The current council of Arkyme is comprised of Vellumtine Gascogne the Vampiric Spellweaver, and the last founding member yet living. A Human Scholar of Litencia, Tobin Ahscient the Diviner. The Dwarven Princess Umbren Goldenhammer, an arcanist specializing in magical constructs. The Awaited Emperor of the Dark Elves Ceunth Baathter. The Silver Scale Blade Mesht Ilphenz from the Draconic Kingdom of Kor'ak. As well as the perpetually empty seat for the Lycan tribes who have yet to seat a member on the council.

The City of Arkyme, guarded by animated armor constructs, has doorways that serve as portals into Duemonte and Synstasia, Dymkrag, Malanh. Members of the Arkyme continually search the lands, seeking to create other places for teleportation in their mission to unite Kyme. Many expeditions are made from the Arkyme in order to study everything across the world.

The Hunter's Age

An organization of monster hunters, taking bounties, ensuring capture, and slaying quarry. When people speak of the oldest of orders in the world, they tell of these hunters.

Founded during the Age of Fire by a number of dragons to provide them with quarry and harvested materials from the creatures of Kyme. The organization grew as a collective of many of the races, and as the membership grew factions began to arise within, rival dragon lords began to use its members as assassins. Quickly this devolved into the catalyst for the races of Kyme to supplant the dominion of the dragons.

It is now told of members passing along veiled threats, and spreading misinformation between the dragon lords who had come to heed these whispers and drive them to act against the other, all the while strengthening the humanoid races desire to free themselves of being the playthings of the dragons. A coup took place in an attempt to slay many of the most powerful dragon lords, but agents within these groups betrayed them and they were unmercifully eliminated. This however incited a rebellion of the whole of The Hunter's Age, and the rest of Kyme soon followed. Not a member survived the war of the Ashbreak, but in the short lived peace after the destruction of the dragons, many flocked to rebuild the order to return to the hunt and with a new creed, seek out and destroy any living wyrm.

Entry into this organization requires recommendation of a Scale, a ranked member of the Hunter's Age. Spread far and wide across Kyme they maintain two holdfasts from which they set out for their hunts, choosing the Lair Palaces of fallen Dragon Kings. In the north at the start of the Citadel Mountains lies Harroc Hurthi, and along the Noct'dlo River in the Rotmire is Rhi'essah Koh.
