The Ember Flats

On the edge of the Fire Divide these searing salt flats are marked only by the ever-shifting drifts of the ashfall and the toxic muck of the Dregsys River.

Geography

The Cinder Wastes. Stretching across the southern edge of the region, is the still burning volcanic ash cast from the eruption within the Fire Divide. Creating a barrier that only marginally contains the powerful elemental fire, only those warded against the flames might wander here.

The Scorchcliffs. The formations that mark the western border of the region where it meets The Ebonkarst. The rising stone is such that it channels the heat from the flats, creating an impassable furnace of superheated stone.

Roads and Landmarks

The Burning Murals. The well-worn salt flats acting as a canvas for the artists of Mansplaya to celebrate the creative and destructive element of fire. Fashioning works of art from Cinder Mud that when ignited on the day of the Fire Festival from Arkyme as it passes over on its yearly orbit of the Elemental Divide.

Road of the Blind Horizon. The central road for the dwarves that make the passages East and West across the region. The road is marked by brass columns to guide the caravans across the flats. At intervals of ten miles, the dwarves often find themselves thwarted by the thievery of the fire giants venturing up from the Throne of Ash.

Settlements

Ashmark. A dwarven keep on the western edge of the Ember Flats near the Dregsys River. Acting as an extension of the storied crafting city of Brimforge, Ashmark secures the precious works of smithing in order to pass them on along the Dregsys river, then onto Dymkrag.

Gyunwal. A small river town in the Ember Flats on the Dregsys River. Many Fire Eleman dwell within this settlement, rumored to be creating a fleet of shielded ships in order to protect themselves from the toxic elements of the river

Haroshnin. The cloistered monastery of the Praetori of Achonus in the southeast of the region. The pure searing asceticism of the Ember Flats the monks choose to internalize in order to purify themselves.

Mansplaya. A village of artisans, crafters, and intelligentsia due north of the center of the Fire Divide near the Dregsys River. Serving as the regional Arkyme Officium many venture south from the village on the Ascendant Day of Fire in order to create object art that is to be consumed by the flames wrought by the arcane.

Whiteblind Keep. A small holdfast of Synstasian regional authority, but serves primarily as a stop-off for dwarven travelers between Ashmark and Brimforge.

Ruins and Subterrane

Over the Throne of Ash the Ember Flats has few passages to the world below in the Depths. In their fell cunning the fiery giants that dwell beneath use this to remain hidden from any who would threaten their power and strike without warning those that travel the flats.

Druuxa Thuun. Once the ancestral lair of a dynasty of brass dragons, these brilliantly carved gorges are said to be haunted by the dragons that were slain there.

Phleshtchogodd. Consumed by unnatural verdant flames none dare enter this Eldritch ruin that lies at the southern central edge of the Ember Flats.
