Staying local...

A hunt around Trimingham early doors this morning before work almost drew a blank on anything 'in', the saving grace being a brief Common Sandpiper on a field pool. I suspect the Lssr and Com. Whitethroats I saw hadn't travelled far at all, but were the closest I was going to get to that other lolloping silvia that I had an eye out for. A lunch time visit to one of the private sites produced a nice Spotted flycatcher and a first year Marsh Harrier going through. Certainly more exciting was news of a Black-necked Grebe on the local reservoir, found this afternoon by Simon. The rain managed to hold off until I could get there, then tipped it down! Never mind though, this was an excellent TG23 tick and also filled in a glaring omission in my Norfolk list! Just need to catch up with Storm Petrel, Cory's Shearwater, Savi's Warbler, Corncrake.........
