At Home

With drifting snow across the lane and a wicked bitting north-easterly ripping over the hill, I wasn't keen to go to far today! The garden provided focus today with all thrushes in attendence, including a grouchy Mistle. Highlight, though not unexpected, was the Woodcock that spent an hour feeding in the garden in the morning. Later on a dog walk provided 22 Woodcock, including fifteen together at the usual spot, and all were seen on the ground, no flush-outs. The bird of the day however was the 1st winter Kittiwake that flew north over the field, absolutely sparkling with the reflection of the snow, and a good garden tick to boot.
