Returning from Chedgrave today I detoured to Whitlingham Country Park in Norwich which is having something of a purple patch at the moment. I managed to pick out the Scaup and Red-necked Grebe fairly quickly and eventually found one of the redhead Smew, asleep on the ice. I can't remember the last time I saw a Smew, been a few years I know. The Great Northern Diver was still present apparently but had moved out of view. The Woodcock at home have disappeared long with the snow.
