Bits and Bobs

Recieved some information on one of the Twite that was at Sidestrand in late autumn. It was ringed as a nestling at Midgley Moor, nr Halifax (West Yorkshire), on 14 June 2010. It was seen locally at Cant Clough Reservoir, nr Burnley (Lancashire), on 4 Sept. Interestingly, it has subsequently been seen at St Mary’s Bay in north Kent on 9th January. Just goes to show, you cant go no where.....

I also recently found these images on my camera of a male Bullfinch at Trimingham a few weeks ago which may suggest another Northern type...

Might be just me but does the bill on this bird look extra bulky?

Although not the sharpest of shots, the leading edge of the broad, almost rectangular covert bar appears to be stepped, certainly when you compare it to the trailing edge.

Below for comparison from a few weeks back.
