Static verbs

Stative verbs are verbs which are used in the present simple, even if they are happening now. They describe continuing states not sudden actions.

There are three main categories of stative verbs ((sense, thoughts and feelings) and two smaller categories (possession and measurement)

They are commonly used as states verbs in present simple and change their meaning when used as event verbs in present progressive (be, have, taste, think).
