“Respectfully Shews- That yr Petitioners Father came into the Province in the Year 1785 & brought with him a wife and Six children. That yr Petitioners father received only Two hundred acres – Yr Petitioner prays Your Honor will please to grant him Lands for himself & for his wife Sarah, the Daughter of Robt Bessey a Loyalist, & Lands that maybe due for family Lands & yr Petitioner will be ever bound to pray—” John Price made his mark. Submission error in the Upper Canada Land Petition of Casper and Lodewick Towser

Oddly, Mary Price made her mark at the bottom of the petition of Casper and Lodewick Towser, rather than the petitioners named at the top. The petition was received at the Executive Council Office on 4 Feb 1797 and read on 26 Feb 1797. Ordered Mary Price has no claim—Joseph Hills must produce a certificate. “Home District York pr} I John C Stooks of the Township of Vaughan, Farmer, do make oath that I have been well acquainted for thirty years past with Hannah Putman, now of the Township of Bertie, & wife of Henry Putman of the same place, and that she has ever been considered and known as the daughter of Jacob Anguish late of Butlers Rangers, who was regularly discharged at the peace in 1783—that he died about six months thereafter, at Niagara, & was there buried – Sworn before me at York this 24 day of August 1812.
