“Humbly Sheweth That your Petitioner in the year 1777 then reside in Albany County and hearing that Genel Burgoyne wished that all the Loyalists would join him at Still-water. – Your petitioner with others went to him to know the certainty of it, but he advised that they would still remain neutral till he would send them word. – I then joined Colol Peters corps there, and was then employed, (with two others) by Govenr Scheen by order of Genel Burgoyne to go down the North River till we could hear with certainty if Genel Clinton ment to come up the North river, which I performed with great difficulty and hazard of my life, for which service I was promised at my return great reward, but on returning was informed that Genel Burgoyne was captured, which made it impracticable for me to get him word, and was then taken prisoner and detained in Albany prison three months, but as soon as I could make my escape came to this place and joined Colol Butlers Corps in which I served as Serjeant till the corps was disbanded – Likewise your Petitioner in the years 1780 and 1781 was employed by Colol Butler three different times to go into the States for inteligence and bring in all the Recruits I could get, which I performed and helped to bring in at different times upwards of Sixty men, for which Services I was promised, but never received any recompence…”

Your Petitioner then inlisted in Butlers Rangers, and served as a Non Commissioned officer untill the Peace, dureing the War, your Petitioner was sent round the Lake by land with Genl McLeans dispatches to the Commander in Chief, and in the year 1785 was again sent down by Major Campbell then Commanding at this Post, in the year 1794 being about to remove from Buffaloe Creek to this side of the Water, was defired by Major Littlehales to remain where I was in order gain information and to endevour to keep the Indians firm in their attachment to the British as Governor Simcoe had reason to apprehend an invasion of the British Territory by Genl Wayne. This request your Petitioner as a Loyal Subject readily complied with and in consequence continued trading with the Indians until now, and should long before have removed hither, but being obliged to give great Credit amongst the Indians it takes much time to collect, & was your Petitioner once more to remove from amongst them would never be able to collect one tenth part of his out standing debts, this would much injure your Petitioner in his circumstances and is the sole cause of his remaining at Buffaloe Creek at present, but hopes in a little while to remove over, with considerable property and to Farm with spirit. The above is a true narrative as to the situation of your Petitioner…”

These are to Certify that the bearer Hereof Isaac Warmer [sic] Priveat Soldier in Capt Bradts Company of the above Said Corps Haith Served Honestly and faithfully in the Said Corps three yairs and in Consequence of his majestyes order for disBandin the said Corps, he is hereby Discharged, and is intitled By his majestyes late order to the portion of Land allotted to such Priveat Soldier, of his provintial Corps as wish to Become a Settler in this province of Quebeck he haveing first Received all just Demands of Pay, arrears of pay, Clothing &c from his Entering into the Said Corps to the Day of his Discharge, as appears by his Receipt on the Back here of Given under my hand at Niagara this 24 Day of June 1784 [Signed] John Butler Lt Col Commant
