On a map of Willoughby Township No. 1 above Chipawa dated on the 16th day of May 1795, Jno. Garner was named on Lot 17 in the first concession and broken front from the Niagara River.

On a map of Willoughby Township copied by Surveyor William Chewett in 1811 from a rough plan drawn by Misener, PLS in 1802, John Garner was named on Lot 17 Concession 1 with the broken front on the Niagara River, Willoughby Twp.
