Today we learned that sandhill cranes can protect themselves from animals that might eat their eggs when nesting. We saw the scene below when a pair of cranes ran into a raccoon. They chased it away. But the total surprise today – which is still unbelievable – is that the cranes chased a huge otter right past our front door! Oh I wish we had that picture – but it all happened too fast. We are still amazed!
