Allen's hummingbirds are now returning to their winter breeding grounds at the University of California-Santa Cruz Arboretum. Hummingbird activity is high as the Allen's and Anna's hummingbirds compete for space and guard their own patch of flowers. The picture below shows a particularly pretty young Allen's hummingbird.
