San Francisco is famous for its fog. It forms most often in summer when warm air flows over the cool Pacific Ocean. Poets have described this fog as “moving art”. Our time-lapse video below shows sea fog streaming past the Golden Gate Bridge as it spreads inland. (Note our original 6 1/2 minute video has been speeded up to play in 39 seconds.)

San Francisco is consistently voted one of the top ten cities in the world by travelers. The “City by the Bay” has inspired the following quotes by famous people:
