Two unique landmarks in San Francisco are Coit Tower and the Pyramid Building.
People say that Coit Tower looks like a fire hose nozzle, and that Mrs. Coit built it to honor the city's heroic firemen. The building was her gift to the city of San Francisco. Visitors enjoy artistic murals inside the tower depicting workers in the 1930's.
The Pyramid Building's unusual shape allows maximum sunlight to reach the streets below. The architects were trying to comply with a San Francisco law that limited the size of building shadows. The Pyramid Building is San Francisco's tallest skyscraper. Its spire is lit up during the holiday season.
