Corning, California, is known as "Olive City". This town north of San Francisco is home to the largest olive processor in the country, and the second largest in the world. Corning packages more than half of the olives sold in the United States! We stopped at a famous store off Highway 5 called the Olive Pit to stock up on this delicious fruit. An Olive Festival is held in Corning every year at the end of August. The picture below shows the poster for this year's event.
