The Seymour Marine Discovery Center at Long Marine Laboratory in Santa Cruz is a really interesting place to visit. The facility has working labs, and a separate building for the public displays. Below are pictures of "Ms. Blue", a blue whale that washed ashore in 1979 near the lab. Blue whales feed in the waters off the California coast in summer. They are the largest animal to ever live on Earth, and their underwater songs can travel thousands of miles across the ocean.
