We saw the whooping crane below at Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park. Whooping cranes are an endangered species. In 1941, only 15 birds were left! Because of conservation, the number has now increased to a few hundred. On rare occasions, a wild whooping crane may be seen along Joe Overstreet Landing Road at Lake Kissimmee. Information about whooping crane migration is at:

Information about how Operation Migration uses an ultralight trike to assist migration is at: http://www.operationmigration.org/
The babies are guided south every Fall from Wisconsin to Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge in Florida (north of Tampa).
