Candy Cane Crinkles
What you need:
- 1/4 cup crushed candy canes
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/8 tsp. baking soda
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Directions:
- In a large bowl or stand mixer bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add vanilla and egg and mix again, scraping sides.
- Add all dry ingredients except powdered sugar slowly while mixing until just combined.
- Stir in crushed candy canes.
- Place powdered sugar onto a plate.
- Take the dough and roll into balls by the tablespoon. Then roll into powdered sugar.
- Place on a parchment paper or silicone mat lined baking sheet.
- Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 9 to 11 minutes until the bottoms barely brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cook for 3 minutes on pan before moving to a wire rack.
