Candy Cane Crinkles

What you need:

    • 1/4 cup crushed candy canes
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
    • 1 egg
    • 1/4 tsp. salt
    • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
    • 1/8 tsp. baking soda
    • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Directions:

    1. In a large bowl or stand mixer bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    2. Add vanilla and egg and mix again, scraping sides.
    3. Add all dry ingredients except powdered sugar slowly while mixing until just combined.
    4. Stir in crushed candy canes.
    5. Place powdered sugar onto a plate.
    6. Take the dough and roll into balls by the tablespoon. Then roll into powdered sugar.
    7. Place on a parchment paper or silicone mat lined baking sheet.
    8. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 9 to 11 minutes until the bottoms barely brown.
    9. Remove from the oven and let cook for 3 minutes on pan before moving to a wire rack.
