Welcome: (5 - 10 min)
Personal intro/check-ins:
Class Intro: - Today will be your first experience in facilitating an Empathy Circle. We will start by having you do the introductory explanation of how the Empathy Circle works.
Create breakout rooms for participants to do EC explanations. (15 min)
Set Intent: An Empathy Circle is a place for everyone to be held with care and to be heard to their satisfaction.
Topic Intro: Faciliator Choose topic.
20 min. to Faciliate
5 min turns x 3 - 15min plus 5min
Do they give the presentation
Circle Experience: Participants facilitate the Empathy Circle Practice Times?

Common Facilitator Challenges by Lou Zweier
Listener leaving out a key portion of what the speaker said
Listener substituting their own thinking or info for the speaker’s
Listener partially or fully reversing what the speaker has said
Listener commenting on what speaker said- agreeing or disagreeing
Listener commenting on speaker - judging the speaker in some way (pos/neg)
Listener reflecting back a lot more than the speaker actually said
Listener asking a question of the speaker
Listener unable to ask the speaker to pause for reflection
Speaker not pausing for reflection
Speaker not stopping at time limit (or shortly there after)
Speaker is so scattered they are hard to follow
Speaker never acknowledges being heard even when reflection is accurate
Speaker choosing the previous speaker to be a listener
Participant objecting to the process
