"I love empathy circles because everyone has a chance to speak and everyone has a chance to feel heard, to feel “gotten” by another person. "
Written Response
My response to “benefits of empathy circles”... There is a powerful sense of “we” that happens, when we are in a group where each person is being fully heard. It’s hard to describe, but there is a feeling of communion… an experience where there is enough space for each of us, and we are not alone. Very different from the kind of social competition for attention that is so prevalent in our society.
For me, this sense that there is room for each person’s perspective, along with the willingness to connect and honor each perspective… at least to understand it, whether or not we might agree with it… brings a deep sense of peace, and connection, and abundance.

I love empathy circles because… everyone has a chance to speak… AND… everyone has a chance to feel heard, to feel “gotten” by another person.
I love empathy circles because… magic happens, when we create a space where each person can feel “gotten”. People are able to think more clearly, feel more connected. It’s a very simple thing, yet it is very powerful.
