At the beginning of an empathy circle we can set and agree on what our intention is for the empathy circle.
Setting an intention or an agreement.
There are different types of intentions
group intentions
Individual intentions
Typical Intentions
Our intention for this empathy circle is to foster a relational empathic way of being. Meaning that everyone is heard to their satisfaction.
(relational empathy - may not mean anything to people.)
(flesh out the intentions, maybe have the design team discuss this.)
Our intention for this empathy circle is to foster a mutual and reciprocal empathic way of being. Meaning that everyone is heard to their satisfaction.
Agreement
We ask for everyone's agreement to support this intention.
A thumbs up from everyone.
We could try gradient agreement to be more nuanced.
Candle Lighting
We light a candle to hold and keep the intention visible in the circle.
Ending the Circle
We blow out the candle and take our intention with us into the world.
Extended Intentions
What about an empathy intention or agreement with a relationship, a family, friends, etc.
