-At one point in their lives they have each of these 4 things

-Notochord

-Pharyngeal slits

-Dorsal tubular nerve cord

-Postanal tail

-Presence of endostyle or thyroid gland

-Complete digestive tract

-Ventral, contractile blood vessel (heart)
