Sharkwater: Sharkwater investigated the trade of shark fins. Shark finning has help lead to a 95% decrease in our planets shark population. This is an ecological tragedy and the only reason it is happening is because of fake homeopathic medication saying shark fin powder can cure many diseases and shark fin soup. The film pushes to make finning illegal and to enforce those laws. However, as discussed in class, simply making something illegal does not get to the root of the issue. The fisherman in these countries no longer have a good lively hood and have to turn to shark finning. Education in China needs to happen to end the demand for shark fins and infrastructure for the countries that are doing the finning needs to take place.
The cove: The cove was a film about exposing a secret cove in Japan that participates in dolphin slaughter. Over 20,000 dolphins a killed every year in the cove.

Blackfish: Blackfish exposed the psychological impact of keeping killer whales in captivity. As with most our discussions, we try to look at both sides. This film is anti-seaworld. However Seaworld has done a lot of good for marine life and research. Most of what we know about marine mammals is due to research paid for by Seaworld.

Here are the things you need to write about in your sketchbook
-Who pays for anti-straw and anti-plastic campaigns? Where does most the plastic in the ocean come from? Why?
-Where do American Fishing companies get most of their money?
-What company is making the most from tuna? How much do they make every year?
-Who is paying for "The Cove" and why?
-What industry is driven by slavery?
-What is dolphin safe tuna?
-What is sustainable fishing?
-What should we do???
Because we should always look at both sides of an argument... after we finish the film, we are all going to read this article: Is Seaspiracy a lie? The Guardian
