About Me

Hello, my name is David Charles Bird. I am a science teacher for Providence High School in Burbank, California. I teach several science courses, most of which are in the field of biological science.

My roles include Dean of STEM, Department chair of science, Medical Program Director, and Technology Program Director. My undergraduate experience lead me to Cal State Los Angeles where I majored in Biology and then, the University of Phoenix where I earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology. As a graduate student in Zoology at Cal State Los Angeles, I conducted research studying two different species of arboreal squirrels.  I attained a Master's of Art degree, in Science Education, from Cal State Northridge, where I conducted research on science textbooks. I am currently earning a PhD in teaching, learning, and culture at Claremont Graduate University where I am conducting research on STEM education, Cultural Capital, and International Comparative Education.
