-Do you trust them? Do they have the potential for harm?

-What is the best thing about the internet?

Class Discussion: (Answer these questions in your notes and later we will discuss them together on teams)

Do you trust what you read on the internet?

-What leads you to trust somethings and not others?

-What makes something a fact? What does it mean for something to be true?

-Can we trust what is written on the labels or packaging of items we buy? Who is in charge of making sure packaging labels are truthful?

What is science?

Activity: (In classroom)

Every one is going to come to the board and answer the question "what is science?"

We will read them together and discuss.

Next everyone is going to come to the board and write something that is not science.

We will also read those together and discuss.

Activity: (Online)

In your notes, before you do anything, I want you to write down what you think science is. Do not cheat. This is what YOU think science is. There is no wrong answer. Then I want you to write down something that is not science.

Watch this video on what is science. Create a box in your notebook, title it "what is science?" and take notes, write down questions you might have, and new examples you might think of. You may include any picture you like that represents the topic, including funny memes.

What makes something science?

–Natural laws apply to every time and place

–Scientific inquiry is based on the assumption that people perceive natural events in similar ways
