Common Name: Squid (Cephalopod)
Squid and octopuses have many of the same features, however, squid are not as intelligent and usually not as good at color changing as the octopuses.
Squid are fast strong swimmers and sometimes live out in open ocean. They are fast hunters.
The strangest squid live in the deep ocean. examples like the dumbo squid and the vampire squid.
There are also giant and colossal squid which can grow to massive sizes. Some weighing over 1,000lbs with a length of 40 feet. We do not see giant squid often since they are deep sea dwellers. Sometimes sperm whales dive and bring them up to the surface for us to catch a glimpse. This is where the stories of sea monsters and kraken come from.
