Back to School Night

Hello parents and welcome to back to school night.

For marine biology we do not use a textbook, instead we use a student generated textbook. The students will be creating their very own marine biology textbook. To familiarize yourself with how the class works using the sketchbooks, please watch this video

For my Master's in Science Education, I conducted research on science textbooks. This research is what led me to start the DIY Textbooks. If you are interested in learning more about my research and the DIY Textbooks you can watch this optional video. however you might only want to watch half of it since the second half just explains how the class works and you already know that.

This is an optional video

Now that you know a little bit about our marine biology class, you have an assignment, should you choose to accept it.

Here is the Link to the Course Syllabus

Every little kid loves science until they have a science teacher. I believe that science classes can ruin science for students. It is my life goal to make sure the excitement and curiosity children naturally have for science flourishes into adulthood. In my course, your child will be encouraged to question everything around them. They will be encouraged to rediscover the magic in science.

I look forward to meeting you at back to school night.

If you would like to know more about my philosophical views on grading, homework, and assessments, feel free to watch any of these videos where I explain why I do what I do. Thank you
