Gray Whales Whale Watching

California Gray Whales

The Gray Whale has no Dorsal Fin which makes them easily identified

They are a large whale

The Gray Whale is a baleen whale

Gray whales do not simply use their baleen to filter out krill.

Gray whales like to eat crustaceans. A gray whale will dive to the bottom and take a mouth full of sand. The whale uses its baleen to filter out all the sand and eat all the crustaceans that were hiding.

Migration

Every year the Gray Whales migrate from Alaska to Baja California to give birth to their young. The whale's food is in Alaska but the females travel to Mexico to give birth in warm water.
