The Resurrection plant

This is the desert of Chihuahua in Mexico

What kind of plants can live here?

-A Plant has to deal with many challenges in the environment

-The larger a plant's leaves the more photosynthesis it can accomplish but the bigger its leaves the more water it loses. A plant in the rainforest can have very large leaves because it does not run the risk of running out of water. If a plant in the desert had large leaves it would quickly dry up and die. Instead plants in the desert have very small leaves or no leaves at all.

The Resurrection plant known as Planta de Resurreccion

The resurrection plant is a beautiful green plant...when water is around. When there is no water it looks like this

Add water again and it turns back into this

Selaginella pilifera

The resurrection plant is from the desert of Chihuahua. How does this adaptation help it survive? When is the plant performing photosynthesis?
