GMA Pinoy TV takes the ultimate fun to the Kapuso in the US with Tom Rodriguez
There’s no stopping GMA Pinoy TV as it continues to bring the biggest Kapuso stars to different parts of the world. For the month of August, multi-talented actor Tom Rodriguez went on a tri-city trip in the US to spend more time with Kapuso abroad.
Tummies and hearts were full as Tom graced the 14th Adobo Festival last August 4 held at 101 N. Main Street in Milpitas, California. The crowd greatly enjoyed the Kapuso actor’s swoon-worthy performance of classic OPM and ballad hits. He also got to perform a duet with Rachel Bergado, one of the Fil-Am finalists from the first season of The Clash.
Ironically, Tom ran out of adobo during the cooking contest which only proved that it is indeed every Pinoy’s favorite dish. GMA Pinoy TV also hosted a trivia game where contestants received tote bags and got the chance to win free tickets to the Super Tekla and Donita Nose US show, which was held last August 24. After the show, Tom had a meet and greet at the GMA Pinoy TV booth.
“Thank you to all who came in this year's Adobo Festival in Milpitas and for making it a tremendous success. And of course, thank you to GMA Pinoy TV for making all the Kapuso fans here in the Bay Area happy. They really enjoyed Tom Rodriguez," said JS Camins Productions Chief Executive Officer Joey Camins, the producer of Adobo Festival.
Tom also made the most out of his stay in California and decided to visit several world-class destinations like the Google headquarters. He was over the moon when he heard Google answered his question “Who is Carla’s (Abellana) husband?” with “Tom is husband material.”
Aside from that, he also had an entertaining Waray interview with DJ Poca at the FilAm Radio Station. He also had the chance to visit the Golden Gate bridge and the headquarters of Facebook and Apple.
Tom’s next stop was Florida for the Fiesta Ko sa Florida organized by the One Philippines Entertainment and AZ Media Entertainment Service last August 9. Hundreds of Pinoys braved the rain to the Reily Arts Center, Ocala to see the Kapuso star as well as the fashion pre-show of Fil-Am designer Kirsten Regalado.
Jerome Majarocon, one of the event producers, thanked GMA as well as Tom for his incredible performance during the show. “We deeply appreciate GMA Pinoy TV’s continued support and sponsorship in our program. All the proceeds of the event will be given to Children of Hope in Bato, Leyte for the construction of a small medical clinic.”
The Kapuso leading man later on went to Texas to headline Fiesta Ko Sa Texas at the Bayou City Event Center last August 11 in Houston and serenaded the Pinoys abroad. The organizers, AZ Media Entertainment and Philippine American Chamber of Commerce Texas, raffled off a 2019 Toyota Camry Car to a lucky participant.
“We would like to thank everyone from GMA Pinoy TV and GMA International, whose efforts and contributions ensured the success of this affair. We are also grateful to Tom Rodriguez who was very generous in sharing his talent during the event,” AZ Media Entertainment Service President Augusto Bhong Zausa expressed.
Tom was given recognitions on both events by the Filipino Communities of Central Florida in Ocala, Florida and by the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Texas Greater Houston Region. Throughout the three events, Tom was also able to pay a courtesy visit to all the PH Consulate offices and meet with Con. Gen. Henry S. Bensurto, Jr. in San Francisco and Con Gen. Jerril G. Santos in Houston.
He also didn’t miss the chance to tour the Kennedy Space Center in Florida and NASA in Houston in time for the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11’s landing on the moon. While he was there, he met a colour blind astronaut named Roger Crouch. He discovered that Roger was turned down when he applied in the Marines, Navy and Air Force because of his condition, but NASA gave him a chance. In 1983, Roger was able to travel to space at the age of 56.
The Fil-Am Kapuso actor, who was even able to go home to Arizona and celebrate his mom’s birthday, shared how amazing this tri-city trip was. “I would like to give my sincerest thanks to everyone who organized and produced these events. We had a lot of fun and I can’t wait to get back again, hopefully to celebrate it with you and Carla Abellana.”
These events were made possible in partnership with one of GMA Pinoy TV’s partner-carriers DISH Network. Viewers abroad can watch Tom Rodriguez in the upcoming Kapuso show “Love of My Life” with Carla Abellana, Rhian Ramos, Mikael Daez, and Ms. Connie Reyes.
